Notes From Last Fishing Season

What’s a guy to do when a snow storm of blizzard status rolls in and he finds himself stuck in his small city studio apartment for the weekend ? He begins to prepare for the next fishing season, of course. Over the years I’ve found reading over my fishing journals from the years before helps to set the tone and prepare for the coming season. By reading it, it helps me remember what tackle I need to buy for the coming season, what places I want to fish more and remember what little things I need to do before the season starts. As the snow piled up outside, I not only reviewed last years fishing journal, but found myself going back through several years worth of notes. I quickly became intrigued with some of the entries and thought I would share them.

Fishing Thoughts From Last Summer

  • I hope she does not find out where I am.
  • Glad I found Fletcher’s Cove, good to be back shad fishing
  •  Cool Sunrise, one more fish before work.
  •  Sometimes its nice to fish alone.
  •  The weather man was wrong again.benefits of fishing
  •  Wonder what the rich are doing this evening?
  •  Nice sunset. Its’ been a good day.
  •  She smiled! Middle school will pass soon, and you’ll love High school I promise. But for now, enjoy the river.
  •  I hope she wants to do this again with me.
  •  I did not know a bass this small would bite a bait this big.
  •  I hope that storm stays away.
  •  I thought they said fish bite in the rain.
  •  Fishing before a front is the best.
  • I need to fish deeper in the weeds next time.
  •  Next time I need to stay longer.
  •  This trail gets really dark at night.
  •  Ouch! that hook is sharp.
  •  I hope the boss does not find out where I am.
  •  My last purple flake worm, I’ll leave when this one rips.
  •  Sometimes its nice to fish with a buddy.
  •  Nice fish.
  •  Lots of color on this trout.
  •  There’s got to be a fish behind that rock.
  •  Can’t believe there wasn’t a fish behind that rock.
  •  Whoops, forgot to pull up my hip boots.
  •  Yes, Troy this river is magic.
  •  Think I stay here and play with these bluegills.
  •  Note to self, need to fix hole in waders.
  •  That was cool.
  •  I’ve got to remember this spot for goose season.
  •  It does not get better than this.
  •  Dang carp scared me.
  •  That hole should have been holding more fish.
  •  Boy, that point had a bunch of smallies.
  •  Big baits this morning, want to catch big one.
  •  Wish I didn’t forget my sunglasses.
  •  I don’t remember this paddle up river being so far.
  •  Top water or jig?
  • That was my biggest Largemouth ever.
  • Can’t believe I didn’t catch even one fish tonight.
  • Is it crazy to buy a new pairs of jeans so not to do laundry and go fishing instead?Monocacy River
  •  This dang thing does not look like anything I would eat, but the fish sure do like it.
  •  I think I can make it across.
  •  Stripers in the morning on top water, the best.
  •  Slow down.
  •  Maybe a jerk bait will work.
  • When in doubt go with white.
  •  Guess its’ time to leave now.
  •  I thought that new bag of worms was in here.
  • I don’t care what they say, Snakeheads are fun.
  • Gotta pay more attention to the tide.
  • No stripers tonight, but the croakers sure where fun on the light rod.
  •  Deer season starts tomorrow.
