My first fish in Florida – Jack crevalle The last few months have been full of change and with these changes I have decided to resume posting on Augie’s Adventures. However, I’m running a little behind. The following story was written a few weeks ago. I hope to be caught up shortly.
Augie’s Adventures – Shad Fishing Report According to my fishing journal, last year the shad fishing was the best the second week of April or there about. But the weather was too nice not to give it a try yesterday afternoon. So, on March 24, 2016, I headed over to Fletcher’s Cove and put the boat … Continue reading
What’s a guy to do when a snow storm of blizzard status rolls in and he finds himself stuck in his small city studio apartment for the weekend ? He begins to prepare for the next fishing season, of course. Over the years I’ve found reading over my fishing journals from the years before helps to set … Continue reading
The Monster Northern Snakehead Arrives Several years ago when the monster Northern Snakehead invaded the waters of Maryland, an all out war was raised to kill them all. Well, that didn’t work. Today, Northern Snakeheads swim the Potomac River shoulder to shoulder with the other predator of the deep, Largemouth Bass. Since the arrival of the … Continue reading

(sorry no pictures of the kayak on the interstate, I … Continue reading
Prevention Canoe Repairs Me and my Old Towne Charles River canoe have been together for a few years now. Since our first lake camping trip to hunt turkeys at Ray’s Town Lake, she has been my work horse canoe. She saved me one afternoon on the Chesapeake when I should have not been on the … Continue reading
When the tide turns, run with it. The line on my reel needed changing. I stood at the tailgate, while parked at the boat ramp, and ran the old line off. In three hours I will be ever so grateful I had taken the time to check the line and put on new.
Monocacy River Fishing Report The last couple of days along the Monocacy have been slow for local fisherman. The good news is the fish caught have been good sized chunks. A few evenings ago, we waded a section of river that I had not wet waded before. The exploration of new water was successful in … Continue reading
