TWO MONTHS IN A TENT

Posted by on June 25, 2020

In July 2018, at the age of 51, I loaded my Toyota Tacoma with camping gear, kayak, mountain bike, fishing and hunting gear and went exploring Canada and Alaska for two months in a tent. The trip took two years of saving and doing without. My bank account would survive the trip, but upon my return would be empty. I was OK with that. I wanted the trip. I needed the trip. For two months I traveled solo across the northern reaches of Canada and Alaska.

On my journey I hiked, fished, mountain biked, kayaked the Yukon river, and even hunted caribou. In my daily journal accentuated with photographs, I recount the journey. This daily account of the journey narrates my accomplishments, failures, faith, and discoveries along the road. I refer to the trip as a long camping trip filled with cool activities, but others have called it an overlanding trip of a lifetime.

If you ever wanted to take that long road trip, then this is the book for you. My simple daily journal style tells the story of what it is really like to travel alone 14,000 miles over 2 months while camping in a tent. No sponsor’s, no agenda, just a guy and his desire to explore the northern reaches of North America and himself.
