Perfect Fall Day Hunting Pheasant at Twin Ridge Father and Daughter Style
Lawrence, Jordan, Chuck and myself, recently spent a perfect November fall day walking the overgrown fields pinched between rolling hills of West Virginia rowed with apple trees. We were guests of Twin Ridge Upland Game farm in Jefferson County West Virginia.

Twin Ridge Upland Bird Farm
After a few warm up clay birds, Our guide, Don and his 8 year old German Short hair, Buddy showed us our way to a few real birds. Buddy covered the field with the vigor of a pup. Quickly getting us our first point and bird. Lawrence was the first to connect on a flushed pheasant, a colorful cock bird. Chuck soon followed with one of his own. Upland game birds were a new game to my hunting partners. Enjoying their smiles, I put away my shotgun, picked up my camera, and preserved the day of memories. The biggest thrill of the day was watching Jordan, a fine young girl, drop her first pheasant. One shot, one bird down, just like an old seasoned hunter. More impressive was her gun handling awareness during the day. Chuck won the long shot of the day award with a fifty yard final shot dropping what was a sure get-a-way.
Even at 8 years old, Buddy ran the fields like a young pup.
Buddy found the bird, now it’s Jordan and Chuck’s turn to finish the job
One not getting away, notice the wad behind the bird. The first shot went high, the second dropped the rooster.
Some love their job more than others
A quick hand off and back to the search
Watching the dog work is as much a part of the hunt as the shooting. Father and daughter time together on a clear cool November day, everlasting memories.
