LifeProof Cell Phone Case – Review

Posted by on December 12, 2016

Protecting my iphone with a LifeProof Case

I like to think of it as I totally emerge myself in whatever activity I am doing, but my family and friends claim I am a magnet to dirt, mud and water. However you choose to look at it, I needed a new cell phone after a little mishap in South Carolina while hog hunting. The old one never quite dried out from the quick little dunk it took in the Pee Dee River. With the purchase of a new phone, I took the advise of friends and purchased a LifeProof waterproof case for the phone.

And it works. From March until November, my iphone has been protected from the elements. I’ve dropped it on the hard asphalt. I’ve dropped it in the mud while getting the truck unstuck. I’ve taken photos while fishing in the rain. The LifeProof case has proven to be Augie’s Adventures survivable.

That is until a few weeks ago when the screen cover began to separate from the rubber outer casing. I complained about my expensive case falling apart to my daughter Carly while we shared wings and watched football on a Sunday afternoon. She explained that they will replace the case for free.

The next day, I looked up the warranty on the LifeProof website. On the warranty page, I answered a few questions and provided some basic information like the model of phone and date of purchase. I closed the LifeProof website and went back to work, not really putting a whole lot of faith in getting a replacement case.

To my surprise, before the day was over, I had received email notification that LifeProof had reviewed my claim and a new case was in the mail that same day.

Does the LifeProof cell phone case cost more than the typical phone case you can purchase at the mall or grocery store? Sure it does. I paid something like $80 for my case and now I see the same case on Amazon for around $45. But there is an old saying that states, “you get what your pay for.”I agree. I’ll take quality over quantity any day.

My iphone has been there and done that, getting wet, muddy and dusty in the process. Thanks to my tough case and LifeProof’s outstanding warranty program, my phone still works.
